Help Us to Help Kids Find and Create Comics!

Drawn to Books is a non-profit organization in Edmonton, AB whose mission is to nurture a wider view of literacy for Alberta youth by providing educational programs and by increasing access to comics and graphic novels for both schools and communities.

We currently have two programs running to help us fulfill our vision:
Drawn to Write : Beginner and Intermediate comic book creator camps for youth ages 9+ . We also publish a yearly anthology of the work created in these camps. 
Drawn to Comics Book Fairs : Fully-staffed, free comic book fairs for school libraries where 20% of the profits go back into school libraries.

Since we started up in July 2019, we have run 4 comic book creator camps, published a comic with the work of our young creators, and donated almost $2000 in free comics to school libraries with our book fairs. 

We do need money for our operational budget in order to pay start up costs and keep the coolest comics coming in for schools. We know that doesn't sound super exciting, but it IS very necessary for us to continue the awesome work that we're doing. We'd love to meet and surpass our goal, which would help us grow our programs AND since 10% of the funds raised will be going to school libraries in free comics, more schools will get more free comics!
